Renowned Japanese Tonkatsu Specialist 'Hajime' Opens in Bangkok
Tokyo’s viral Tonkatsu Hajime has launched its first Thai branch at CentralWorld, bringing its signature low-temperature frying technique to local diners.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the premium Japanese tonkatsu restaurant 'Tonkatsu Hajime' has officially opened its first location in Thailand. Situated on the 7th floor of CentralWorld in the Atrium zone, the restaurant arrives with a reputation from its original Nihonbashi, Tokyo location, where it famously generated queues lasting over three hours.
The establishment distinguishes itself through a specialized low-temperature frying technique. This method is designed to ensure the pork remains tender and juicy on the inside while maintaining a light, crispy, and non-greasy breadcrumb exterior. The restaurant markets its offerings as 'craft tonkatsu,' emphasizing the precision and expertise of its chefs in preparing the meat.
For residents and travelers in Bangkok, the restaurant aims to replicate the authentic Japanese experience, including unlimited refills of Japanese rice and shredded cabbage. The menu is designed to be straightforward, catering to both newcomers and tonkatsu enthusiasts. While the restaurant promises a consistent experience compared to its Japanese counterpart, potential visitors should note that the brand is known for high demand, which may impact wait times. As of now, the restaurant is fully operational, though diners should verify current peak-hour wait times directly with the venue to manage expectations.
