Law
Statutes, ministerial notifications and official conditions define the legal framework. Their effective date and scope matter.
Work and business
Work, visas, company ownership and professional restrictions are different subjects. This page helps you identify the official checks needed before acting; it is not legal, immigration or tax advice.
Read the information correctly
Statutes, ministerial notifications and official conditions define the legal framework. Their effective date and scope matter.
Application documents, appointments and administrative expectations can vary by authority, location and case.
Prepare early, retain written evidence and obtain professional advice before spending money or performing work.
Before you move
Do not treat a social-media checklist as an authorization. Start with the activity you will actually perform and the entity that will receive the work.
The Department of Employment and BOI explain that foreign nationals generally need authorization before working. The permitted role, employer/entity and conditions matter; do not assume that a tourist stay, exemption or a company shareholding is enough.

Foreign ownership, the business activity, licensing and the right to work are related but separate. The Foreign Business Act and sector rules can apply even where a company is registered.
Check whether the intended activity falls within a restricted list, needs a Foreign Business License/Certificate or benefits from a lawful exemption.
Eligible investment-promoted projects can follow dedicated BOI procedures. Promotion is not automatic and conditions remain project-specific.
Non-immigrant visa categories, work authorization and a company’s filings must be coherent. Always verify current official requirements.
“Remote” does not by itself settle Thai immigration, labour, tax or licensing questions. The facts — where you are, what you do, for whom and how you are paid — matter. Obtain advice before relying on informal labels.
Be cautious of guarantees of visas, work permits, nominee structures, licences or jobs. Verify the provider’s legal identity, authority and written terms directly with official sources before paying.

No universal rule should be assumed. Requirements can depend on the route, employer, capital, sector and incentive scheme. Confirm the current official rule for your case.
No. Online work still needs a fact-specific immigration, labour, tax and regulatory assessment.
