A new dining option has emerged in the Bang Cha-Kreng sub-district of Samut Songkhram, aiming to provide relief amidst rising inflation. According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the shop, named 'Mom’s Recipe Curry' (Khao Gaeng Sut Khun Mae), was opened on April 17 by 32-year-old owner Pannat Ruenlilimskul.

Drawing inspiration from her mother’s long-standing experience selling curry at the Mae Klong market, Pannat decided to offer high-quality meals at a flat price of 20 baht per dish. While standard curry shops in the region typically charge between 40 and 50 baht for similar portions, the owner maintains that her goal is to ensure that all community members, regardless of their financial situation, can afford a satisfying meal during these economically challenging times.

For travelers and residents, this shop offers a glimpse into local efforts to support community welfare. The menu is diverse, featuring a rotating selection of 10 to 15 dishes daily, including traditional favorites like sour curry (kaeng som), spicy curry (kaeng khua), stewed eggs (phalo), and various stir-fried spicy dishes. While the shop relies on high turnover to sustain its low-profit margin model, it remains to be seen how long this pricing strategy can be maintained against fluctuating ingredient costs.
