Thailand Consumers Council Files Second Class Action Lawsuit Against Samsung

The Thailand Consumers Council has initiated a second class action lawsuit against Samsung over recurring screen defects, citing over 2,100 new complaints.

The Thailand Consumers Council (TCC) has filed a second class action lawsuit at the South Bangkok Civil Court against Thai Samsung Electronics and its South Korean parent company. This legal action follows persistent reports of screen defects, specifically vertical lines appearing on displays, which have affected a significant number of users.

According to the TCC, despite a previous remediation program, they have received 2,103 new complaints from consumers. These reports include users whose devices were previously excluded from warranty coverage and individuals who experienced the same screen failure even after having their displays replaced. The council is seeking legal recourse to address these ongoing hardware issues.

For residents and long-term visitors in Thailand, this development is significant as it highlights potential quality control concerns regarding specific Samsung mobile devices. Those currently using Samsung products may want to monitor the progress of this litigation, as it could influence future compensation or repair policies. At this stage, it remains to be confirmed how the court will rule on the class action status and what specific remedies, if any, will be mandated for the affected consumers. Users experiencing similar issues are advised to document their device history and monitor official updates from the Thailand Consumers Council.
