Minor Food and Serruya Private Equity to Acquire Bonchon International
Minor Food, a subsidiary of Minor International, has announced a US$50 million investment to acquire the Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon International.
According to a report by Khaosod English, Minor Food—a wholly owned subsidiary of Minor International—is partnering with Serruya Private Equity (SPE) to acquire Bonchon International. This strategic move grants the partners ownership of the popular Korean fried chicken brand and its operational network outside of the Americas.
Minor Food has committed an investment of US$50 million toward the acquisition. The transaction is currently projected to reach completion by the end of August 2026.
For residents and travelers in Thailand, this acquisition is significant as it brings a major global food franchise under the management of a prominent local hospitality and food service operator. Minor Food’s extensive experience in managing international brands suggests potential shifts in how Bonchon is operated or expanded within the region.
While the financial commitment and the partnership structure have been disclosed, several details remain to be confirmed. Specifically, the public has yet to see how this change in ownership will impact existing franchise agreements, menu offerings, or the long-term expansion strategy for Bonchon locations in Thailand and other international markets. Stakeholders are awaiting further announcements following the expected closing of the deal later this month.
