Thailand Unveils 142 Billion Baht Plan for New Rail Network to Boost Ranong Gateway

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai government is advancing a 142 billion baht infrastructure plan designed to establish the 'Ranong Gateway' as a key logistics hub. This initiative, which is being positioned as an alternative to the previously discussed 'Landbridge' project, centers on the construction of three new double-track railway lines.

Sanphet, a representative involved in the project, highlighted that the government is prioritizing the development of the Chumphon to Ranong Port rail link. This specific segment is intended to serve as a 'missing link' that connects the national rail network directly to the port, thereby enhancing Thailand's overall transport connectivity and regional logistics capacity within ASEAN.
