Nutritionist Offers Tips to Reduce Caffeine Dependency

A prominent nutritionist suggests three lifestyle adjustments to maintain alertness and focus without relying on coffee.

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, nutritionist Gao Min Min has shared advice on how to break the cycle of caffeine dependency. Writing on her Facebook page on August 18, she noted that while many people turn to coffee to combat morning grogginess, this habit can lead to a cycle of reliance.

To maintain consistent energy and focus throughout the day, she recommends two primary behavioral changes. First, she emphasizes the importance of consuming high-quality protein during breakfast, such as eggs, soy milk, or yogurt. This helps stabilize blood sugar levels and slows digestion, potentially preventing the mid-morning energy crashes often associated with caffeine consumption. Second, she highlights the necessity of consistent hydration. Because the brain is approximately 70% water, even mild dehydration can impair cognitive function, reduce concentration, and slow thinking—symptoms often mistaken for sleep deprivation.

For residents and travelers in Thailand, these tips offer a practical approach to managing daily energy levels. While these suggestions provide a framework for dietary adjustments, it remains to be confirmed how individual metabolic differences might affect the efficacy of these specific nutritional strategies. Readers are encouraged to consider these as general wellness guidelines rather than medical prescriptions.
