Consumer Alert: High-End Smartphone Order Results in Fraudulent Delivery
A consumer reported receiving an Android device instead of an iPhone 17 Pro Max after purchasing it through a popular e-commerce application.
According to a report from Khaosod Online on August 16, 2026, a member of the 'We Are Consumers' group shared a distressing experience regarding an online purchase. The individual ordered an iPhone 17 Pro Max via a well-known e-commerce application, paying nearly 50,000 baht for the device. Upon delivery, the customer discovered that the product was not as advertised; instead of the expected Apple smartphone, the package contained a device running the Android operating system.
Following the discovery, the customer attempted to contact the seller to resolve the issue and request a refund. However, the seller has reportedly failed to provide a human response, with the customer receiving only automated AI messages. The buyer has since initiated a formal refund and return request through the platform's system.
For residents and travelers in Thailand, this incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with high-value online transactions. While e-commerce platforms offer convenience, verifying seller credibility and utilizing secure payment protection remains essential. It is important to note that the platform's official response to the refund request and the identity of the seller remain unconfirmed. Consumers are advised to document the unboxing process of expensive electronics to provide evidence in the event of a dispute.
