Prachin Buri Residents Face Eviction After 151 Years of Land Occupation

Khaosod Online Thailand One source

Residents of Ban Prong Phai in Prachin Buri have filed a police report after receiving an eviction notice from a private company claiming ownership of their ancestral land.

On November 6, 2026, over 30 residents and community leaders from Ban Prong Phai, located in the Ban Na sub-district of Kabin Buri, Prachin Buri, filed a formal report at the Kabin Buri Police Station. The group is protesting a sudden eviction notice issued by a private company, which demands that they cease construction, demolish existing structures, and vacate the area within 15 days. The company claims ownership of the land based on a land title document known as Nor Sor 3 Kor. According to local residents, including a former sub-district administrative organization member, families have occupied and cultivated this land since 1875, spanning 151 years. Villagers have raised concerns regarding the legitimacy of the company's land title, alleging that some portions of the claimed area overlap with protected forest reserves. They have requested an urgent investigation by government authorities into the validity of the land deeds. For residents and those interested in local land rights, this case highlights the ongoing complexities surrounding land tenure in rural Thailand. It remains to be confirmed whether the company's land title is legally valid and how government agencies will respond to the villagers' request for an official audit of the disputed territory.
