Sisaket Province Aims to Elevate Beef Industry to Premium Status
Thai officials are working to brand Sisaket beef as a premium agricultural product, aiming to build on its current 2.9 billion baht annual economic contribution.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun recently visited Krisada Farm in the Benjalak District of Sisaket to assess the local beef industry. During the visit, officials discussed strategies to transform Sisaket beef into a high-value premium product, drawing inspiration from the success of the province’s famous 'Volcano Durian.'
In 2025, the beef industry generated approximately 2.909 billion baht for the Sisaket economy. The government’s current initiative focuses on developing the entire supply chain—from livestock rearing and quality control to processing and branding—to ensure that increased profits reach local farmers. By establishing a distinct identity and narrative for the beef, authorities hope to elevate its market position.
For residents and visitors, this initiative may eventually lead to a more standardized and higher-quality culinary experience when dining in the region. However, the specific timeline for these branding efforts and the exact criteria for the 'premium' certification remain to be confirmed. As the project progresses, stakeholders will continue to monitor how these developments impact local agricultural practices and the availability of premium beef products in the marketplace.
