Thailand Expands Pollution Complaint System Nationwide
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has launched a nationwide initiative to streamline pollution reporting and resolution.
On August 10, 2026, Thailand’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Suchart Chomklin, directed the Pollution Control Department (PCD) to enhance its complaint-handling mechanisms across the country. This initiative aims to address environmental issues that directly impact public health and daily life, such as foul odors, noise pollution, wastewater, and illegal waste dumping.
For residents and travelers, this development is significant as it provides a more accessible channel to report environmental nuisances. The PCD has expanded its reach through its central office and 16 regional Environmental and Pollution Control Offices, ensuring that reports can be filed and monitored more effectively. The government is promoting a strategy of "access, understanding, and comprehensive management" to resolve these issues using scientific standards.
To facilitate this, the public is encouraged to submit complaints or seek advice via the 'Traffy Fondue' platform on the LINE Official Account. This digital integration is intended to allow citizens to track the progress of their reports directly. While the government has committed to a proactive approach in handling these grievances, the specific timeline for the resolution of individual cases and the efficacy of the regional offices in managing diverse types of pollution remain to be confirmed as the system scales up.
