Thai Cabinet Announces Key Appointments for Natural Resources Ministry
The Thai Cabinet has approved the appointment of new leadership for the Department of National Parks and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, effective October 1, 2026.
On August 5, 2026, the Thai Cabinet officially approved the appointment of two senior civil servants to key positions within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. According to Khaosod Online, Yongyut Nakwirot, currently serving as the Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources, has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. He will succeed Atthapol Charoenchansa, who is retiring.
Additionally, Chidchanok Sukmongkol, currently an Inspector-General of the Ministry, has been named Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, filling a vacancy left by a retiring official. Both appointments are scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026.
For residents and travelers, these leadership changes are significant as the Department of National Parks oversees the management, conservation, and visitor policies of Thailand’s extensive protected areas.
