Thai Rice House Receives Thai SELECT Certification in Fujian
The Department of International Trade Promotion has awarded the Thai SELECT certification to a Thai Rice House branch in Xiamen, China, to boost the profile of authentic Thai cuisine.
On August 5, 2026, the Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) officially awarded the Thai SELECT certification to the Thai Rice House restaurant located in the MIXC shopping mall in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Surin Suntronsanan, Deputy Director-General of the DITP, presided over the ceremony, with restaurant executive Lin Zhi Hao accepting the honor.
The event, organized by the Thai Trade Center in Xiamen, featured a cooking demonstration highlighting Thai dishes, including sticky rice with durian. More than 20 local influencers attended the event to help promote the Thai SELECT brand, which serves as a government-backed assurance of authentic Thai culinary standards. Thai Rice House, established in 2004, currently operates over 50 locations across China.
For travelers and residents in China, this certification provides a reliable indicator of restaurants that maintain authentic Thai flavors and quality standards. While the DITP continues to expand its promotional efforts through local partnerships and social media influencers, it remains to be seen how these marketing campaigns will influence the broader competitive landscape for Thai dining establishments in the region. The DITP has not yet announced which additional locations may be targeted for future certification reviews.
