Authorities Seize Illegal Starlink Equipment on Songkhla Lake Fishing Boats

On August 5, 2026, Thai marine police, acting under the direction of Police Major General Setthasiri Nipphaya, conducted a raid on two fishing vessels located in Songkhla Lake. According to a report by Khaosod Online, authorities arrested two men, aged 43 and 67, for the unauthorized installation and use of Starlink satellite internet equipment and signal boosters.

The suspects face charges related to the possession of smuggled goods, failure to clear customs procedures, and the operation of radio communication equipment and stations without the required licenses from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). During the operation, the individuals reportedly claimed they were unaware that the use of such equipment was illegal.
