Thai Government Investigates Data Leak Linked to State Agency IP Addresses
Deputy Transport Minister Siriphong Angkasakulkiat confirmed that three government IP addresses were identified in an investigation into a data leak at the Department of Land Transport.
On August 5, 2026, Deputy Minister of Transport Siriphong Angkasakulkiat addressed reports regarding a data leak involving the Department of Land Transport. According to Khaosod Online, the Ministry identified three suspicious IP addresses exhibiting abnormal search behavior. These addresses were traced to the Bangkok Noi District Office, the Expressway Authority of Thailand, and the Singhanat Task Force.
In response, the Ministry has temporarily suspended the user accounts associated with these entities and mandated a password reset for all agencies that access Department of Land Transport data. Siriphong stated that the matter has been referred to the Cyber Police for further investigation to determine whether the accounts were compromised by hackers or misused by authorized personnel.
For residents and travelers, the Ministry emphasized that while the leaked information is personal, it consists of basic data that cannot be used to conduct financial transactions. Authorities have urged the public not to be overly concerned. It remains to be confirmed whether the breach was the result of external hacking or internal misuse, as the investigation by the Cyber Police is ongoing. The Ministry has secured the identities of the involved accounts and is currently working to ensure system integrity.
