Armed Robbery at Chiang Khong Gold Shop

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, two men armed with handguns carried out a robbery at the Yaowarat Bangkok gold shop located inside a shopping mall in Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai, on the afternoon of August 4, 2026. CCTV footage shows the suspects, one wearing a brown jacket and the other a red hooded jacket, entering the store and firing a warning shot into the air to intimidate staff and security personnel.

During the incident, the suspects jumped over the counter and seized approximately five trays of gold jewelry before fleeing the scene. Authorities later discovered the motorcycle used in the robbery abandoned near the Mekong River. Police are currently coordinating with authorities in the Lao PDR to track the suspects.
