Pattaya Police Investigate Alleged Extortion by Impersonators

On August 4, 2026, a 36-year-old woman identified as Kanyapak filed a report with the Pattaya City Police Station regarding an alleged abduction and extortion scheme. According to the report, the incident began on July 27, when three men claiming to be police officers entered a herbal shop in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The men alleged they found drug paraphernalia on the premises and subsequently took Kanyapak and two of her employees to a private location described as a 'safe house.'

Kanyapak stated that the men demanded 10,000 baht in exchange for the release of the employees. She was reportedly released first and instructed to secure the funds to pay for the others' freedom. Suspecting that the men were not legitimate law enforcement officers, she sought assistance from the authorities.
