Salakjit Duangjan Addresses Criticism Following Annual Commemoration of Pumpuang Duangjan

Following the conclusion of a nine-day memorial event for the late 'Queen of Luk Thung' Pumpuang Duangjan in mid-June, her sister, Salakjit Duangjan, has spoken out about the challenges of maintaining the singer's legacy. In an interview with Khaosod Online, Salakjit expressed that she remains disheartened by recurring online comments accusing her family of 'exploiting the spirit' of her late sister for personal gain.

Salakjit also addressed social media comparisons between contemporary singers and the original recordings of Pumpuang. She stated that such comparisons are inappropriate, emphasizing that the late artist should be respected as a master of the genre.
