Bangkok Governor Unveils 93.9 Billion Baht Budget Plan for 2027

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has presented the city's fiscal budget plan for 2027, capping total expenditure at 93.918 billion baht. According to Prachachat Business, a significant portion of this budget—over 6 billion baht—is earmarked for the operation of the BTS Green Line train system.

Beyond transit, the administration plans to allocate 6.661 billion baht to continue the 'capillary' infrastructure development project, which focuses on small-scale improvements across all 50 districts of the capital. While the Governor anticipates a revenue increase of 1 billion baht, he noted that government-mandated reductions in property transfer fees have resulted in a 5 billion baht shortfall in city revenue. Consequently, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is currently in discussions with the central government to seek compensation for these lost funds.

For residents and frequent visitors, this budget reflects a continued focus on maintaining essential transit services and localized urban upgrades. However, the final implementation of these plans remains subject to the outcome of ongoing negotiations with the central government regarding the revenue deficit. Whether the BMA will receive the requested compensation to offset the property transfer fee losses remains to be confirmed.
