Thai Government Urges Welfare Card Holders to Complete Identity Verification by August 31

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 3, 2026, the Thai government has issued a reminder for welfare card holders to finalize their identity verification. Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek stated that out of 9.5 million individuals who have passed the qualification review, 6.3 million are existing cardholders who do not require further action. However, 3.1 million are new cardholders who must complete the electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process.

Data from the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, as of August 2, 2026, indicates that approximately 2.1 million new cardholders—about 69%—have successfully verified their identities. This leaves roughly 980,000 individuals who have yet to complete the requirement. The government is urging these remaining 5.2 million eligible individuals (a figure encompassing those needing review and verification) to submit their requests for status review by August 31, 2026.
