Thai Government Urges Welfare Card Holders to Complete Verification by August 31

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Thai government is intensifying efforts to ensure that welfare card holders complete necessary administrative procedures before the August 31, 2026, deadline. Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek stated that authorities are prioritizing the fair distribution of state welfare benefits and are actively facilitating the verification process for eligible citizens.

As of August 2, 2026, data from the Department of Provincial Administration under the Ministry of Interior indicates that out of 3.1 million new welfare card holders, approximately 2.1 million have successfully completed their electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification. This leaves roughly 980,000 individuals who have yet to finalize their status. Additionally, the government is processing requests from over 5.2 million people seeking to appeal their eligibility status, with over 4 million appeals already submitted.
