High-Voltage Cable Theft at Uthai Thani Rice Mill

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a theft occurred at the Supanimit Nong Yai Da Agricultural Cooperative in Uthai Thani province during the night of July 28, 2026. Somnuek Sornlum, the cooperative manager, reported that a perpetrator climbed a ladder to disable security measures, including covering CCTV cameras with plastic bags and disconnecting power to the surveillance system.

The thief successfully cut and removed eight high-voltage cables, each one inch in diameter and totaling over 60 meters in length, which were connected to a 500-ton-per-day rice dryer. Additionally, numerous smaller electrical wires were stolen from the facility. The manager noted that this is not the first time the cooperative has been targeted by such criminal activity.

For residents and those operating businesses in the area, this incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the security of industrial infrastructure and the potential for localized power disruptions. While the cooperative has documented the damage, which is estimated to be in the millions of baht, the identity of the perpetrator remains unknown. Authorities are currently reviewing available footage from secondary camera angles that captured parts of the incident. It remains to be confirmed whether this theft is linked to a broader pattern of organized metal theft in the region.
