4-Meter Python Consumes Pet Cat in Chonburi

On the evening of July 29, 2026, rescue workers from the Thammaratsami Maneerat Foundation were called to a residence in Map Pong, Phan Thong District, Chonburi, following reports of a large snake. According to Khaosod Online, the homeowner, 34-year-old Ms. Kanruedee, was alerted by family members that a python had entered the property and eaten her pet cat.

Upon arrival, responders discovered a 4-meter-long python, weighing approximately 30 kilograms, hiding in a drainage pipe near the house. The snake exhibited a noticeably distended abdomen, confirming it had recently consumed the cat. Rescue teams spent about 10 minutes carefully extracting the reptile from the pipe using specialized equipment. The python was subsequently secured and transported to be released into a remote area far from human settlements to prevent further incidents.

For residents and travelers in rural or semi-urban areas of Thailand, this incident serves as a reminder of the presence of wildlife in residential zones, particularly during the rainy season when snakes may seek shelter or food near homes.
