Thailand Sees Surge in Investment Applications, Led by Digital Sector

The Board of Investment (BOI) reported a 28% increase in investment applications during the first nine months of 2026, totaling 1.7 trillion baht.

According to a report from Thai Post, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) has announced a significant rise in investment interest for the first nine months of 2026. Data indicates that 1,954 projects have applied for investment promotion, representing a total value exceeding 1.7 trillion baht—a 28% increase compared to the previous period.

The digital industry emerged as the primary driver of this growth, accounting for over 1.1 trillion baht in investment value. This sector was followed by electronics, as well as agriculture and food processing. The BOI highlighted that these figures underscore a strategic focus on strengthening the nation's digital supply chain and artificial intelligence capabilities.

For residents and expatriates, this surge suggests a robust expansion in the local tech ecosystem, which may lead to increased job opportunities and infrastructure development in the coming years. While these application figures reflect strong investor confidence, it remains to be confirmed how many of these proposed projects will reach full operational status and what specific timeline will be required for their implementation. The data serves as a positive indicator of Thailand's evolving economic landscape, particularly in high-tech sectors.
