Nawat Itsaragrisil Criticizes Government Response to Severe Flooding

TV personality Nawat Itsaragrisil has publicly criticized the government's handling of severe flooding in his residential area, arguing that such crises are beyond the scope of local management.

On October 7, 2026, television personality Nawat Itsaragrisil reported significant flood damage to his luxury residence and vehicles. According to Khaosod Online, Nawat stated that floodwaters reached waist-high levels, causing extensive damage to three of his cars, valued at over 10 million baht. He noted that nearly 100 homes in his development were affected by the inundation.

Nawat expressed frustration regarding the official response to the crisis. When he sought assistance, he was reportedly directed to consult his village’s juristic person management. Nawat argued that large-scale flooding is an external issue that local management cannot resolve, suggesting that if such problems were the responsibility of village committees, the government would be redundant. He highlighted the inconsistency of the flooding, noting that some parts of the same development remained dry while others were submerged, a phenomenon he claims has not occurred in his 17 years of residency.

For residents and travelers, this incident underscores the unpredictable nature of seasonal flooding in certain Thai residential zones. While the water levels have reportedly receded by over a foot, the area remains impacted by stagnant water and sanitation concerns. It remains to be confirmed whether local authorities will provide further assistance or if infrastructure improvements will be proposed to address the drainage disparities within the affected neighborhoods.
