QR Technologies Addresses Loan App Controversy

QR Technologies, the operator of the 'ThaiNance' app, has issued a statement clarifying its lending practices following public complaints regarding loan terms.

On September 24, 2026, QR Technologies Co., Ltd. released a formal statement regarding recent media reports concerning its 'ThaiNance' mobile application. The company addressed allegations from users who claimed that the app’s loan terms were misleading.

According to the company, QR Technologies operates as a licensed personal micro-finance provider under the supervision of Thailand’s Ministry of Finance. The firm asserts that the complaints stemmed from incomplete information provided to the media by certain applicants. The company clarified that the application interface explicitly displays loan amounts, interest rates, and optional service fees.

QR Technologies explained that the total repayment amounts cited by some users included optional services provided by partner companies, such as online news subscriptions and accident insurance. These costs are presented separately from the core loan details, and users have the choice to opt-in or out of these additional services during the application process.

For residents and visitors, this situation highlights the importance of carefully reviewing all terms and conditions within financial applications. While the company maintains that its operations are fully regulated, users should ensure they understand the distinction between base loan obligations and optional add-on services. It remains to be confirmed how regulatory bodies will respond to these public concerns or if further transparency measures will be implemented for digital lending platforms in Thailand.
