Police Summon Famous Amulet Expert in Wat Phutthaisawan Embezzlement Case

According to Khaosod Online, the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) has issued a summons for the well-known amulet expert 'Pong Suphan' to provide testimony regarding his involvement with a foundation established at Wat Phutthaisawan. This development follows the arrest of the former abbot, Atichot Thangprasert, and a laywoman identified as Ms. Punyavee, who are accused of embezzling hundreds of millions of baht from the temple.

Police Major General Phatthanasak Bupphasuwan, Commander of the CSD, stated that investigators have forwarded financial records from the temple to the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to trace the flow of funds and identify potential accomplices. While some data has been returned by AMLO, the investigation remains ongoing. Reports indicate that the former abbot had established the 'Wan Chot Foundation,' appointing himself as president and overseeing a six-member board, of which Pong Suphan is reportedly a member.
