Thai Government to Review Rice Farmer Subsidy Proposal Next Week

According to Khaosod Online, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Suriya Juangroongruangkit announced that a proposal to provide financial assistance to rice farmers will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval next week. The initiative aims to support 233,729 households that were previously excluded from the 2025/26 production season subsidy program.

The proposed measure offers 1,000 baht per rai, capped at 10,000 baht per household, with a total budget allocation of 1.846 billion baht. This move follows the National Rice Policy and Management Committee's recent approval to expand the scope of the aid program to cover these remaining households. Sorawut Nuangjamnong, Secretary to the Minister, noted that the ministry has finalized the necessary preparations to expedite this support.

For residents and those interested in the Thai agricultural sector, this development highlights ongoing government efforts to stabilize rural incomes. While this specific proposal targets the 2025/26 season, discussions regarding support measures for the upcoming 2026/27 production cycle are currently being prepared by the relevant sub-committees.
