Kasikornbank Issues $800 Million in Subordinated Bonds
Kasikornbank has successfully issued $800 million in 10-year subordinated bonds with an interest rate of 6.278% to bolster its Tier 2 capital.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 18, 2026, Kasikornbank (KBank) has completed the issuance of $800 million in 10-year subordinated bonds. The financial instrument carries an annual interest rate of 6.278% and is intended to strengthen the bank's Tier 2 capital reserves.
KBank President Chongrak Rattanapian noted that the offering attracted significant interest from international institutional investors, with total subscription orders reaching $2.6 billion, more than triple the target amount. This strong demand reflects investor confidence in the bank's financial stability.
For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this move is primarily a corporate financial strategy aimed at enhancing the bank's long-term capital adequacy. While it does not directly alter daily banking services or interest rates for retail customers, it underscores the bank's proactive approach to maintaining a robust balance sheet in a fluctuating global economic environment.
At this stage, the bank has confirmed the successful allocation of the bonds. Further details regarding the specific long-term impact on the bank's lending capacity or potential shifts in retail banking products remain to be seen as the bank integrates these funds into its capital structure.
