Thailand Poised to Benefit from Global AI Infrastructure Shift
Kiatnakin Phatra Securities reports that the global AI investment cycle is shifting toward infrastructure, offering Thailand a strategic opportunity to enhance its industrial competitiveness.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Kiatnakin Phatra Securities (KKP) has identified a significant shift in the global artificial intelligence investment cycle. Analyst Supapong Eamkong-ek notes that AI development is moving beyond mere software and chip production, transitioning toward the essential infrastructure required to support large-scale computing.
As AI systems grow, data centers are experiencing a surge in power requirements, with rack power density rising from tens of kilowatts to approximately 600kW, potentially reaching 1MW in the future. This evolution places a premium on robust supporting infrastructure, including advanced power distribution, cooling systems, and high-speed data transmission networks.
For residents and those monitoring Thailand’s economic landscape, this transition represents a potential window of opportunity. KKP suggests that if Thailand can successfully attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into these advanced production chains, it could significantly elevate the country’s industrial competitiveness on the global stage. By leveraging existing strengths in infrastructure and downstream industries, Thailand aims to integrate itself as a vital component of the global AI supply chain.
While the potential for economic growth is highlighted, the long-term impact remains to be confirmed. The extent to which Thailand can effectively capture this new wave of FDI and successfully upgrade its industrial capacity to meet these high-tech infrastructure demands is still subject to future developments.
