Concerns Raised Over Airport Rail Link Operations
Surachet Praevinwongwut of the People's Party has warned the government regarding a proposed four-month extension for Airport Rail Link operations, citing potential risks to public interests.
On September 12, 2026, Surachet Praevinwongwut, a list MP for the People's Party and chair of a transport infrastructure subcommittee, addressed the ongoing management issues surrounding the Airport Rail Link (ARL). The current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Asia Era One Co., Ltd. is set to expire on September 30, 2026.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, Asia Era One submitted a proposal to the SRT governor on September 8, 2026, requesting to operate the rail service for an additional four-month interim period. Surachet has publicly criticized this proposal, identifying three specific conditions that he argues could disadvantage the state and the public. He urged the government not to use public transportation as a bargaining chip in negotiations.
For residents and travelers, this situation highlights potential uncertainty regarding the continuity and management of the rail link connecting Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
