DSI Officials Implicated in Local Government Exam Fraud Scheme
Thai authorities have arrested two Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials linked to a 55-million-baht bribery scheme involving local government recruitment.
According to a report by Thai Post on September 11, 2026, a joint task force comprising the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD), the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), and the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has apprehended two DSI officials. The arrests follow an investigation into a fraudulent local government recruitment scheme.
The operation expanded from the earlier arrest of a former sub-district administrative organization (SAO) mayor, identified as 'Nayok Heng,' who was also a former Pheu Thai Party candidate. Authorities allege that Nayok Heng claimed a figure known as 'Boss' could guarantee government employment for applicants. The investigation revealed that 107 candidates allegedly paid a total of 55 million baht as a deposit to secure positions. The suspects are now facing serious charges related to this corruption network, which reportedly links back to individuals with influence over local government examination processes.
