Thai Parliament Cuts Overseas Travel Budget for Committees
The Thai Parliament has reduced its budget for overseas travel, effectively ending international trips for most parliamentary committees.
On September 10, 2026, during a session at the Thai Parliament regarding the 2027 fiscal year budget, Pheu Thai MP Manaporn Charoensri announced a significant policy shift regarding legislative travel. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the parliamentary committee has decided to cut 71 million baht from the budget allocated for overseas travel.
Manaporn, serving as vice-chair of the extraordinary committee reviewing the 2027 budget, stated that all parliamentary committees will no longer have the opportunity to travel abroad, with the exception of the President and Vice-Presidents of the House. This decision is part of a broader effort to adjust the 3.06 billion baht budget requested by the Parliament, which covers the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the King Prajadhipad's Institute.
