Thai MP Calls for Budget Cuts to Address Cross-Border Pollution

She specifically targeted an 83.9 million baht project focused on water quality monitoring stations, labeling it an inefficient use of funds that fails to address the root cause of the pollution. Ratklao highlighted that toxic chemical and heavy metal contamination has spread from the Kok River into the Mekong River, posing a significant environmental risk due to the Mekong's larger volume and depth. She proposed a 5% budget reduction to force a systemic overhaul of the ministry's strategy.
