The group is seeking an investigation into the 'Jewish Cemetery Thailand' project, which was previously intended to accommodate over 1,200 burials.
According to Khaosod Online, the district sheriff had previously denied the renewal of the cemetery's operating license after determining the site did not comply with the 2000 Ministerial Regulations under the 1985 Cemetery and Crematorium Act. Despite this, local residents remain concerned that clandestine burials may still be occurring at the site. The community has expressed significant anxiety regarding potential environmental impacts, noting that the area is situated near agricultural land, residential zones, and local water sources. Some residents have reportedly begun avoiding the area entirely.
