Gold Market Outlook: Analysts Suggest Caution Amid US Economic Data
Leng Hong Commodities advises investors to monitor US inflation data as gold prices undergo a short-term consolidation phase.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Leng Hong Commodities has assessed that the gold market is currently experiencing a period of consolidation following a significant recent rally. Pattarin Wachirakhaphan, Chief Operation Officer at Leng Hong Commodities, noted that while gold prices faced pressure after August non-farm payroll data showed an increase of 162,000 jobs—the highest since March—the overall market sentiment remains positive.
For residents and investors in Thailand, this means the market is currently sensitive to upcoming US economic indicators, specifically the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI). These figures are expected to influence the US Federal Reserve's interest rate policy, which in turn impacts gold prices. Analysts suggest that investors avoid chasing current prices, instead recommending a wait-and-see approach for potential pullbacks to the $4,330–$4,350 range (approximately 68,000 Thai Baht) to accumulate holdings.
While the medium-to-long-term outlook for gold remains bullish, market participants are closely watching the FedWatch Tool, which has shown volatility in interest rate expectations, fluctuating between 60% and 70%. As of now, the market remains in a state of anticipation, waiting for further economic data to clarify the direction of US monetary policy. Travelers and residents should be aware that gold price fluctuations may affect local jewelry markets and currency exchange sentiment.
