The Ban Khong Subdistrict Municipality in Ratchaburi has clarified that its office will remain operational during a scheduled staff training event following public scrutiny.
The Ban Khong Subdistrict Municipality in Photharam District, Ratchaburi, has issued a clarification regarding a public notice that suggested a total office closure from September 7–8, 2026. The notice, which drew criticism from the 'STRONG Anti-Corruption Thailand Club' Facebook page, stated that the office would close to allow executives, council members, and staff to attend a professional development program in Phetchaburi province.
According to Khaosod Online, municipal officials explained that the project is a legitimate training initiative for 141 personnel, with approximately 122 expected to attend. The municipality clarified that the office will not be fully closed; essential services, including disaster prevention and public service departments, will remain open to assist residents. Only staff members not directly involved in public-facing roles will participate in the training.
Officials attributed the confusion to an incomplete and inaccurate announcement posted on the municipality’s social media page, which did not align with the official approval documents. For residents or visitors in the area, this means that while some administrative departments may have reduced staffing levels during those two days, core services remain accessible. It remains to be confirmed whether the municipality will issue a corrected formal notice to fully resolve the public misunderstanding regarding the scope of the office operations.
