JSCCIB Raises Thailand’s 2026 GDP Growth Forecast to 2.1-2.5%

The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) has upgraded its 2026 economic growth outlook, citing stronger-than-expected export performance.

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) has revised its 2026 GDP growth projection for Thailand to a range of 2.1% to 2.5%, up from the previous estimate of 1.6% to 2.0%. Payong Srivanich, Chairman of the Thai Bankers' Association and current head of the JSCCIB, attributed this upward adjustment primarily to a robust export sector, which is now expected to grow by 12% to 16%, significantly higher than the earlier forecast of 8% to 10%.

For residents and travelers, this economic shift suggests a more active trade environment, though the committee noted underlying structural challenges. While exports are thriving, private sector investment growth has slowed to 10%, reflecting a reliance on imports and limited job creation from new investment cycles. The JSCCIB emphasized the need to integrate high-value industries, such as data centers—where every 100 megawatts represents over 60 billion baht in investment—and printed circuit board manufacturing into the local supply chain to ensure sustainable growth.

While the outlook is more optimistic, the actual impact on the broader economy remains to be confirmed. The committee highlighted that Thailand must improve its ability to create domestic value-added products to ensure that future investments translate into more significant local employment opportunities.
