According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Japan women's national volleyball team has officially missed out on qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. This outcome was determined following their third-place finish at the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship held in Tianjin, China. Japan was defeated by Thailand in the semifinals with a score of 1-3 sets, while Thailand subsequently secured the Olympic quota by defeating China 3-2 in the final.
Upon returning to Haneda Airport, head coach Ferhat Akbas issued a formal apology to Japanese fans, expressing deep regret over the result.
