FTI President Reports Progress on 90-Day Industrial Strategy

The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has marked its first 90 days under the '5I' strategy, focusing on economic cooperation and SME support.

Pimjai Laoisissakul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), recently outlined the progress made during her first 90 days in office under the 'The New Chapter of Thai Industry: Empowering Growth with 5I' strategy. According to Khaosod Online, the FTI has prioritized bridging the gap between policy and implementation through six key proposals submitted to the Prime Minister, including the 'Made in Thailand' initiative, energy restructuring, and legal reforms.

A significant development reported is the reactivation of the Joint Public-Private Sector Consultative Committee (JPPCC) to address economic challenges. This committee has already held two meetings to facilitate systematic collaboration between the government and the private sector. Additionally, the FTI has engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Energy regarding the Power Development Plan (PDP2026) to address industrial energy needs.

For residents and business owners in Thailand, these developments signal a potential shift toward more structured government-industry cooperation, which may influence local supply chains and energy costs. While the FTI has established these initial frameworks, the long-term impact on SME growth and the final implementation details of the PDP2026 remain to be confirmed as the government and private sector continue their collaborative efforts.
