DSI Advances Second Phase of STARK Stock Money Laundering Case

Thai authorities have submitted the second STARK stock money laundering case to the Attorney General, involving allegations against the former CFO.

According to a report by Thai Post on August 26, 2026, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has forwarded the second phase of the STARK stock case to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). This new investigation focuses on allegations of money laundering involving eight individuals, including Mr. Sattha Chan-setthalert, the former Chief Financial Officer of STARK Corporation.

Mr. Sattha, who was previously the third defendant in the initial STARK legal proceedings, is now identified as the primary suspect in this second investigation. The DSI alleges that he siphoned funds from the company's accounts. The current legal process involves a proposal to the Attorney General to determine whether this case should be classified as an offense committed outside the Kingdom of Thailand.

For residents and expatriates, this development highlights the ongoing regulatory scrutiny surrounding the STARK financial scandal, which has been a significant point of interest in Thailand’s corporate sector. While the legal proceedings continue, the classification of the case as an 'offense outside the Kingdom' remains to be confirmed by the Attorney General. This determination will dictate the procedural path for the prosecution. Observers should note that this is a separate legal action from the initial case, and further updates regarding the court's jurisdiction and the status of the eight suspects are expected as the OAG reviews the DSI's submission.
