Military Intensifies Landmine Clearance Along Thai-Cambodian Border
The Thai Mine Action Center is conducting demining operations in Surin and Sisaket provinces to secure border areas, recently discovering four PMN-2 landmines.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Royal Thai Armed Forces, through the Thai Mine Action Center (TMAC), is accelerating efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance along the Thai-Cambodian border. The mission focuses on four specific sectors across Surin and Sisaket provinces, including areas near Ban Thai Niyom Phatthana in Surin and Ban Phum Srol in Sisaket.
During recent operations in the Huai Ta Maria area, specialized humanitarian demining units successfully located and neutralized four PMN-2 landmines. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to return safe land to local communities and reduce the long-term risks posed by remnants of past conflicts.
