The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has announced a strategic shift to transform national science museums into lifelong learning platforms.
On August 19, 2026, Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presented a new vision for Thailand’s scientific institutions. Speaking at the Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres Conference (ASPAC 2026), Dr. Supachai, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Science Museum (NSM) board, outlined a plan to transition traditional museums into dynamic 'lifelong learning platforms.'
In his keynote address, titled 'Empowering Future Generations: The Role of Science Museums in Building Resilient and Sustainable Societies,' Dr. Supachai emphasized the necessity of evolving these spaces to better serve modern societal needs.
