A local government official has accused a teacher of financial deception following a brief online romance, sparking a public dispute over dowry payments.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a local government official identified as 'Khun Tae' has sought assistance from the 'Sai Mai Tong Rod' organization, alleging he was defrauded by a woman known as 'Kru Nam.' The two reportedly met on a dating application on June 14, 2026, and began a relationship shortly thereafter.
Khun Tae claims that Kru Nam, who works as a contract teacher, requested over 300,000 THB for a dowry and an additional 200,000 THB for various expenses, including tuition fees. During an appearance on the television program 'Hone Krasae' on August 18, 2026, Kru Nam responded to these allegations. She admitted to receiving the funds but requested to return only half of the total amount, arguing that she also suffered damages during the relationship. She further expressed a desire to continue the relationship and potentially marry Khun Tae.
