Minor International Acquires Global Bonchon Rights Outside the Americas
Minor International has announced a 1.65 billion baht acquisition of Bonchon International, securing brand rights for all regions excluding the Americas.
Minor International Public Company Limited (MINT) has officially notified the Stock Exchange of Thailand of its acquisition of 100% of the shares in Bonchon International. According to a report by Prachachat Business, the transaction is valued at 1.65 billion baht.
This strategic move grants Minor International ownership of the Bonchon brand across all global markets, with the notable exception of the Americas. By integrating this popular Korean-style fried chicken chain into its extensive portfolio, MINT aims to bolster its revenue streams through increased royalty collections and franchise fees.
For residents and travelers in Thailand and other regions under MINT’s new management, this acquisition signals a potential expansion or shift in how the brand is operated and marketed. As Minor International is a major player in the hospitality and food service sectors, the brand may see increased visibility or operational changes in the coming months.
At this stage, specific details regarding potential menu adjustments or new outlet openings remain to be confirmed. Stakeholders are waiting for further announcements from the company regarding how this acquisition will influence the day-to-day operations of existing Bonchon locations outside of the Americas.
