Bang Si Mueang Police Destroy Seized Illegal Firearms
Police in Nonthaburi have destroyed 21 confiscated illegal firearms following court orders to prevent their future misuse.
On August 8, 2026, Khaosod Online reported that the Bang Si Mueang Police Station in Nonthaburi province conducted a destruction operation for 21 illegal firearms. According to Police Colonel Phumisith Tangwitdecha, the operation took place on July 5, 2026, following the conclusion of criminal proceedings and a formal forfeiture order issued by the Nonthaburi Provincial Court.
The destroyed cache included a mix of homemade firearms and various calibers, specifically 9mm, .32, .38, and .22. Before the destruction, a police committee verified the serial numbers and details of each weapon against the court-ordered forfeiture list. The firearms were dismantled using specialized cutting equipment, and the remaining fragments were buried in accordance with official regulations to ensure they could never be repurposed for criminal activity.
For residents and visitors, this action highlights the ongoing enforcement of Thailand’s strict firearm control laws. Police Colonel Phumisith emphasized that possessing illegal weapons poses severe risks to life and property and carries significant legal penalties under the Firearms Act. While this specific case is closed, the incident serves as a reminder of the authorities' commitment to removing illicit weapons from circulation. It remains to be confirmed if similar destruction operations are planned for other districts in the Nonthaburi area in the near future.
