Thailand Manages Final Southern Durian Harvest Amid Strong Export Performance

According to Prachachat Business, the Thai Ministry of Commerce is currently managing the final phase of the southern durian season. With approximately 70% to 80% of the harvest already reaching the market, officials are focused on absorbing the remaining supply. The Ministry has set a target to manage 300,000 tons of durian, with over 200,000 tons already processed to maintain market stability.

This effort follows a robust export performance for the year. As of August 4, 2026, Thailand has exported 1.11 million tons of durian, generating a total value exceeding 127 billion baht.

For residents and travelers, this news highlights the peak of the durian season in the southern provinces, such as Chumphon. While the abundance of fruit may lead to favorable pricing and availability in local markets, the focus remains on the government's logistical efforts to manage the final supply surge.
