Selection Process for New Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Narrows to Two Candidates
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has disqualified eight out of ten applicants for the position of Governor, leaving only two candidates to proceed to the next stage.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the selection committee for the new Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), chaired by Ministry of Tourism and Sports Permanent Secretary Natthriya Thaweewong, has announced the results of the candidate qualification review. Out of ten initial applicants, only two have met the required criteria to advance in the selection process.
The two remaining candidates are Dr. Meechai Inwood, Deputy Governor for Administration, and Mrs. Prodpran Samanmit, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Boxing. These individuals are scheduled to undergo an English language proficiency test on August 10, 2026, followed by an interview and a presentation of their vision for the organization on August 13, 2026.
Reports indicate that the high disqualification rate—eight out of ten applicants—has drawn public attention. While specific reasons for individual disqualifications were noted, such as missing educational credentials or late submission of application materials, the committee also emphasized strict requirements, including the mandate that candidates must have experience managing an organization with a value of at least 1 billion baht within the last three years.
