Nakhon Phanom Mekong River Patrol Seizes 4 Million Methamphetamine Pills
Thai naval forces intercepted a large shipment of narcotics along the Mekong River, though the suspects managed to escape.
On August 8, 2026, the Mekong Riverine Unit (MRU) of the Royal Thai Navy conducted an operation in Nakhon Phanom province, resulting in the seizure of 4 million methamphetamine pills. According to Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, the Navy spokesperson, the operation was launched following intelligence reports of suspicious activity along the riverbank.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered 10 sacks containing the narcotics. The individuals responsible for transporting the drugs utilized the cover of darkness to evade capture and remain at large. The seized contraband has been transported to the Ban Phaeng Naval Station for processing and further investigation.
