Thai Government Expands Investigation into Local Government Exam Fraud
The Thai government has announced a comprehensive investigation into widespread cheating in local government recruitment exams, moving beyond the disqualification of 5,295 candidates.
On August 8, 2026, government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek addressed the ongoing scandal regarding corruption in local government organization (LGO) recruitment examinations. According to Khaosod Online, the government is committed to identifying all individuals involved in the scheme, emphasizing that the response will not be limited to the disqualification of candidates.
To date, the Ministry of Interior has removed 5,295 names from the list of successful candidates after confirming their involvement in exam irregularities. The Central Committee for Local Government Official Recruitment (KST) has finalized this initial administrative action. However, the government has pledged to pursue a broader investigation to ensure accountability for all participants, regardless of their status, under the principle of prioritizing behavioral evidence over anonymity.
